ATLANTIC MINE - A fire at a residence in Atlantic Mine Wednesday destroyed its garage, but the house was saved and there were no injuries resulting from the fire.
Dave Mattila, lieutenant with the Adams Township Fire Department, said a call about the fire was received by the department at about 4:30 p.m. When firefighters arrived at the house on Rocky Road, the garage was fully engulfed in flames.
There were people at the house, but they were unhurt by the fire, Mattila said.

"They did all get out," he said.
The house did receive some smoke and water damage, but the fire didn't affect it, Mattila said.
"The garage is a total loss," he said.
Assisting at the scene were about 40 firefighters with fire departments from Hurontown, South Range and Stanton. The American Red Cross and Mercy EMS were also on the scene.
Firefighters were on the scene about two and a half hours, Mattila said.
Mattila said the state fire marshal will not be investigating the fire, the cause of which is still undetermined.
