MASON, Mich. - Michael Wesley Wisti, age 73, died Nov. 27, 2012.

He was born June 20, 1939, in Chassell, to William and Hilda (Lantto) Wisti. Michael graduated from Chassell High School in 1956 and was a member of the Chassell Panthers Class D State Champion Boys Basketball team.

He graduated from Michigan Technological University with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering in 1960; earning his Master's and Doctorate degrees in Metallurgy from Michigan State University in 1975.

He served his country in the United States National Guard. He co-founded Atmosphere Annealing, Inc., in 1978; serving as Company President until his retirement in 1999.

Michael liked to work in the garden, enjoyed sports and was a committed supporter of progressive ideals.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Andrew Wisti; sister-in-law, Irene (Aho) Wisti; and brother-in-law, William Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lori (Chapman) Wisti; two sons, Michael William Wisti and partner Norah Labiner, Leif (Jodi) Wisti; beloved grandchildren Lydia and Henry Wisti; brothers Theodore Wisti, Gordon (Edith) Wisti; sister-in-law Ruth Wisti; sister Marion (Wisti) Brown and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at noon at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S. Jefferson, Mason, MI with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
