Patricia Joan Kanniainen

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Patricia Joan (Harju) Kanniainen died after a long illness surrounded by her family on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012.

She was born June 22, 1940, in Albion Location, Calumet, the daughter of the late Ernest and Julia (Mursu) Harju. Patricia attended Calumet Schools and Michigan Tech.

She worked for various businesses in the Copper Country, retiring in 1996 from the Houghton County Courthouse. Patricia lived in the Calumet area for most of her life until moving to Menominee in 1999 to be near her children.

Patricia is survived by two sons, Dennis (Mary) Kanniainen and Dean (Susan) Kanniainen, all of Menominee; a daughter, Debra (Timothy) Hopkins of Gillette, Wis.; a brother, Ernest (Gloria) Harju; a sister, Judith (Nathan) Karvonen, all of Champion; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; a special friend who was like a daughter, Darlene McMahon.

She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Paul A. Kanniainen.

At Patricia's request, there will be no services or visitation. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery in Calumet at a later date.
