Vivian Irene Coon

SILVER SPRING, Md. - Vivian Irene Coon, 85, a native of Hancock, passed away on Saturday evening, Jan. 5, 2013, after a long illness.

A graduate of Hancock High School and Michigan Tech, Vivian worked for the State of Michigan Health Department's office on the Michigan Technoligal University campus as a medical technologist.

She was an active member of the Hancock community for most of her life. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, bridge and traveling.

For the past 13 years, she had resided in a memory care facility in the Washington D.C. suburbs.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Thomas Albert and Edith Mae Coon; four brothers, Carl, George, Jack and Tom Coon; one sister, Alice Crowell.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Roberts of Battle Creek; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock with Rev. Fr. Brian Gerber to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton. Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 18 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the O'Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock.
