DOLLAR BAY - Baraga ensured Dollar Bay couldn't get over a cold-shooting start Monday.

The Lady Vikings outscored the Bays 12-4 in the first quarter and maintained that eight-point advantage to the finish for a 45-37 Copper Country Conference win.

"The biggest effect they had in the game, when we were starting to catch up, we'd get a good shot and a good three and they'd answer right away," DB coach Steve Krahling said.

The Bays made just two of 21 field-goal attempts in the first half and trailed 20-10 at the break. They trimmed the lead to five in the second half, but no further.

"We just need to do better in the first half with shots. We had good looks and just didn't get them to fall," Krahling said.

Rebecca Larson knocked down a pair of threes and led Baraga with 13 points.

Julia Daavettila of Dollar Bay led all scorers with 16 and teammate Jamie Sertich added 10.

Baraga (6-5, 3-2 CCC) is at L'Anse Thursday night. DB (3-7, 1-5 CCC) will try to break a three-game losing streak at Ontonagon Thursday.
