To the editor:
"The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; the second is war. Both bring a temporary prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunists." This quote was made by Ernest Hemingway.
It would be helpful if the recent letter writer of Feb. 8 had documented when "Both Reagan and Bush ... borrowed heavily." Excuse me? Didn't Obama horrendously increase the "large national debt" shortly after assuming his presidency with mega bailouts and stimulus packages?
What sane family would maintain a household by acquiring debt and borrowing money to right a bad situation?
Conservatives believe in paying their bills. It is not "hatred of taxes" that burns them but rather that taxes make possible the expanding of unnecessary government entitlements to a sub-class of freeloaders.
If the writer's goal is the demise of America sooner than later, by all means keep advocating "Roberts' Rules to Ruin."
