Shirley A. Zerbst

HOUGHTON - Shirley A. Zerbst, 74, a former resident of Houghton passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past five years.

She was born on Sept. 12, 1938, in Trimountain, a daughter of the late James and Annie (McLean) Warrick. As a child, she moved with her family to Houghton where she attended the Houghton High School, graduating with the class of 1956. She then attended Suomi College.

In 1974 she was united in marriage to Fred W. Zerbst Jr. and after 11 years together, he preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1988.

Mrs. Zerbst was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton. She was an avid bowler for many years, enjoyed painting pictures in her free time and spending time at the family cottage in Twin Lakes.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and infant brother.

Surviving are her children, Terry (Thomas) Anderson of Portage Township, Patricia (Joseph) Katalin of Munising, Michael (Sandra) Pascarelli of Traverse City, Mich.; her step-daughter, Mary Ellen (William) Stevens of Hubbell; her grandchildren, Michael, Jeffrey, Sandra, Rachelle, Joseph, James, Philip, Jayna, Angela and Michelle; great-grandchildren, William and Brent; one aunt, Joy McLean of Houghton; and numerous cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 in St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton with Fr. John Martignon to celebrate. Spring burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church.
