Members of the Finlandia University Physical Therapist Assistants Club present to Houghton Elementary School Principal Patrick Aldrich some of the shoes they bought with the $1,000 they raised from their annual Soup for Sneakers fundraising effort, Monday. Instructor Geri Hawley said the Finlandia effort, which started eight years ago, is part of a national program called Shoes 4 Kids. Lori Stachowicz, PTA vice president, said the 22-member club was able to buy 34 pairs of boys’ and girls’ shoes for Houghton Elementary School, Gordon G. Barkell Elementary School in Hancock and C-L-K Elementary School in Calumet. Club President Melissa Wagcher said members appreciated the support of the community for the fundraiser.
