Hancock vs. Gladstone today at Zone tourney

MENOMINEE - Inclement weather forced the postponement of Friday's American Legion baseball games in the Upper Peninsula Class A zone five tournament.

Hancock Post 186 will play Gladstone at 1:30 p.m. ET today. Two other games were in progress, and Escanaba currently leads Marquette 4-3 in the second inning. The game will resume at 11:30 this morning. Menominee and Kingsford, who are scoreless in the third inning, will resume at 1:30 p.m. today.

Weather also delayed the Little League Minors Softball State Tournament at Escanaba.

PL Minors state tourney pool play bumped back

MUSKEGON - The Portage Lake Minor (age 9-10) All-Star baseball team was slated to start state tournament play today against District 2 champion West Portage, but rain postponed the pool play game until Monday at a time to be announced.

Today and Sunday's pool play games will take place as originally scheduled. Portage Lake challenges Harper Woods at 9 a.m. this morning. Harper Woods got its first game in before the rain Friday, losing a 3-2 walkoff, which manager Don Hill and his team got to watch.

Sunday's game will be at 10:15 a.m. against Blissfield.
