KINGSFORD - Houghton nabbed a pair of third-place finishes Tuesday in the Kingsford Invitational cross-country meet.
The Gremlin boys had 105 points to finish behind Escanaba (40) and Marquette (71).
Isaac Stone finished fifth individually in 18 minutes, 46 seconds, 57 seconds off the pace of winner Lance Rambo of Marquette.
In a race in which the top five places went to runners from five differenct schools, Escanaba had sixth and seventh to go along with third-place runner Eric Cousineau.
On the girls' side, Marquette dominated the field even without distance queen Lindsey Rudden, who sat out due to illness.
Amber Huebner took the race in 20:37 as Marquette runners finished in seven of the top nine spots.
Houghton landed in a three-team logjam behind the Redettes. Escanaba was runner-up with 76 points, followed by the Gremlins' 79 and Gladstone's 80.
Noelle Polakowski landed in the top 10, finishing 10th in 23:07.
Houghton will rejoin the rest of the WestPAC in the Calumet Invite at Keweenaw Mountain Lodge outside Copper Harbor on Thursday.
