Thanks for help with flags

October 22, 2013
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

The installation of 26 flag poles surrounding the Veterans plot at Mountain View Cemetery in South Range is now complete and what a beautiful tribute to our departed veterans. It is a sight to see.

What we had thought could be a two-year project, was completed in record time thanks to the generosity of the local public for their donations. All 26 poles have been spoken for and have name plates rendering a tribute or honors to a loved one. Four of the poles are dedicated to Silver Star recipients from South Range.

A special thanks to the VFW crew of Dave Jukkala, Tom Richards and Irv Tronti for all their hours spent doing the installation.

Thanks to the Village of South Range crew, Moyle, RC Mechanical, The Laser Lady, and the Adams Township Cemetery worker Gary for all their help in supporting this project.

A formal dedication of all the flag poles will be held on Memorial Day May 26, 2014 at our Memorial Day service at the cemetery.

We are in the planning state for Phase 2.

If you are interested in a flag pole please contact me at 906-482-0723 or jimpintar@charter.net.

Donations are still needed for flag replacement which will cost about $550 per year because we are flying the flags 24/7 all summer long.

Donations can be made at the Miners Bank in South Range or at the VFW.
