HOUGHTON - Houghton forward Elisa Jurmu was elected to the Michigan Associated Press Class B All-State Team, released today.
Jurmu, a 5-9 senior, was the reigning U.P. Class ABC Player of the Year and continued that level of excellence, averaging 20 points per game and leading her team to an 18-2 regular season record for the second consecutive season.
She also kicked in 4.9 rebounds, 2.7 steals and two assists per game, while making 49 percent of her shots from the field and 81.8 from the free-throw line.

In addition, Jurmu's 35-point game at Gwinn in December marked a new career high.
Jurmu also scored 30 at home against Escanaba in a head-to-head matchup with Escanaba junior Michelle LaFave, herself an All-State nominee who received honorable mention.
Jurmu scored at least 13 points in every game this season, crossing the 1,000 mark in the regular season finale at Hancock, her 57th varsity appearance, and finished her career with 1,048.
Jurmu, the WestPAC Player of the Year (and co-Player of the Year in 2013), is the first Gremlin to receive All-State honors since Samantha Manderfield in 2009.
