The Fourth of July Weekend officially begins tonight with a variety of activities, and there's going to be something for everyone all weekend long.
As Garrett Neese reported in his Wednesday Page 1 article, hundreds are expected to gather in Lake Linden tonight for the spectacular fireworks show. Preceding the fireworks, as always, is a wonderful celebration with music, food and a lot of fun in the Lake Linden Village Park.
There's nothing like a parade on the Fourth of July and they come fast and furious in the Copper Country. While everyone has their favorite, if you time it right, visitors can make it to two or more parades in a single day. Dollar Bay, Baraga, Copper Harbor, South Range, Lake Linden-Hubbell-Tamarack and Gay all have big parades scheduled.
Friday is bursting with Independence Day celebrations from Baraga, where it's Lumberjack Days to Copper Harbor where the fireworks show reflecting off of Lake Superior is something everyone should experience. In Addition to the Harbor, fantastic fireworks can be seen at Baraga and South Range.
We especially encourage folks looking for something to do to consider some quality July 4 time in South Range.
Only a few weeks ago the fate of the celebration was in jeopardy. In fact the Daily Mining Gazette had received word there was to be no parade, fireworks or any other celebration in South Range. Congratulations go out to a dedicated group of citizens, working with businesses and organizations to ensure the Range Town will indeed have a celebration. We encourage everyone to show their appreciation by supporting their commitment to this incredible town.
