College Hockey: No. 21 Aurora routs Lions, 7-0
HANCOCK — The Finlandia University men’s hockey team lost 7-0 to No. 21 Aurora Friday night at Houghton County Arena.
Aurora (3-0, 1-0 NCHA) got on the board first scoring at the 3:46 mark of the first period. Finlandia had great shots from sophomore Dylan Paavola and freshman Hunter Moreland that were knocked away at the last moment.
The Lions (0-3, 0-1) had two shots on target that were blocked and sophomore Cory Richardson just missed. The Spartans scored two goals in a four minute span in the opening period to turn the tide.
On face-offs, sophomore Tyler Watungwa had 11 wins and senior Blake Peavey recorded nine. Freshman Ben Kelsch had a solid collegiate debut with 11 saves in over 28 minutes of action.
Finlandia remains home at 4 p.m. Saturday against Aurora.
