HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech junior Laura De Marchi has been named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District Volleyball First Team. De Marchi is a setter from Milan, Italy, and holds a 3.83 grade-point average in Biomedical Engineering.

De Marchi leads the GLIAC in assists per set (11.70) and ranks seventh in the nation. She was twice named the GLIAC Setter of the Year and last season was an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, AVCA All-Midwest Region pick, and D2CCA Second Team All-Region selection. She has also earned All-GLIAC First Team honors in her first two seasons and was the 2017 GLIAC Freshman of the Year.

De Marchi notched her 3,000th career assist on Oct. 4 and currently ranks third in program history with 3,448 assists. She has tallied 50 assists five times this season and has a career-high of 64 assists in 2018 at Alaska Anchorage. De Marchi also has 12 double-doubles this season and is fourth on the team in digs per set (2.76).

The 2019 Academic All-District Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The All-District teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. The Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs.
