Houghton back to Class C for 2017-18

The Houghton Gremlins are heading back to Class C.

The MHSAA released the 2017-18 enrollment list Monday, and the Gremlins were one of three U.P. schools to be affected for the upcoming season. Rudyard and Munising are going to Class D after being in Class C this past season.

The cutoff for Class B is an enrollment of 406, and the Gremlins have an enrollment of 404. For this season, Houghton was one student away from being in Class C.

Negaunee is right on the cutoff for Class C this yea with an enrollment at 405.

The Class C classification is for schools with enrollments of 204-405, while 203 and below is Class D.
