Tech hockey ranked No. 15

HOUGHTON — The Michigan Tech hockey team is ranked No. 15 this week in the USCHO.com Poll. The Huskies also received votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll.

Tech is 3-1-1 on the season and is unbeaten in its last four games. The Huskies took five out of six WCHA points at Lake Superior State in the conference-opening series last weekend The Huskies won 4-3 Friday and the two teams skated to a 2-2 tie Saturday with Tech winning the shootout in the fourth round. Gavin Gould scored twice Friday, while Jake Jackson and Greyson Reitmieir added tallies. Joel L’Esperance and Alex Gillies scored Saturday, and Jake Lucchini scored in the shootout. Goaltender Patrick Munson had 21 saves Friday and 23 Saturday.

Tech was ranked No. 13 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll and tied for No. 15 in the USCHO.com Poll last week.

The Huskies host Alabama Huntsville in the home opener for the second year in a row this weekend at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena. The puck drops at 7:07 p.m. both Friday and Saturday nights.

The Blue Line Club is hosting a Meet the Team event Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. and the first Blue Line Lunch of the season on Friday at noon. Cost of the lunch is $10 per person with soup and sandwiches on the menu. Please RSVP to blueline@mtu.edu by Thursday at noon to reserve your seat.
