Ontonagon’s Jake Witt named to All-State team

BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) — Stephenson junior running back Montell Glover has been named 2017 Player of the Year for The Associated Press All-State Team for eight-player high school football in Michigan.

Others named to the first team are Hunter Riley of Powers North Central, Hunter James of Kingston, Grant Papineau of Central Lake, Jake Witt of Ontonagon, Logan Hardwick of Rapid River, Andrew Pechette of Kinde North Huron, Curtis Vogel and Kenton Bowerman of Deckerville, Ethan Humphreys of Mesick, Garrett Dodds of Pickford, Peter Ropiak of Crystal Falls Forest Park, Jimmy Evans of Camden-Frontier, William Jenema of Marion, J.P. Szczypka of Bay City All Saints and Hunter Nowak of Morrice.

Coach of the Year is Kinde North Huron’s Issac Viers.

Voting was by a panel of AP member sports writers from around the state.
