L’ANSE — The L’Anse Purple Hornets didn’t bring the same intensity that led them to a 2-0 start, and it cost them in a 72-42 nonconference loss to the Westwood Patriots Thursday in L’Anse.

“(Westwood) was just way too physical for us,” L’Anse coach Scott Lloyd said. “My girls played timid and soft. That’s about the best way to sum it up.

“Our passes were horrible passes. They baited us into a bad pass and stole it and then went the other way.”

L’Anse trailed 18-5 after the first quarter and fell behind 34-16 by halftime.

Sarah Dix paced L’Anse with 15 points.

Next, L”Anse hosts Wakefield-Marenisco on Tuesday.
