Houghton boys and girls dominate swim meet

RUDYARD — The Houghton boys and girls swim teams hit the road for a meet against Rudyard, Saturday. The Gremlins took first in every event except the girls 500 freestyle and the girls 200 freestyle relay.

Houghton’s girls 200 yard medley relay team, made up of Wonyoung Choi, Mikayla Sague, Tessa Meyer and Samantha Olson defeated Rudyard by 12 seconds.

Meyer also took first in the 200 freestyle, 100 yard butterfly and was a member of the 400 freestyle relay team along with Choi, Sague and Olson.

Olson also won the 100 yard freestyle and 50 yard freestyle.

Choi was victorious in the 100 yard backstroke.

Sague took first in the 200 yard individual medley.

Autumn Sanders finished first in 1 meter diving.

In the boys 200 medley relay Colton Haataja, Connor Jackson, Leif Odegard and Kevin Beaghan won by 26 seconds.

Odegard also won the 500 yard freestyle.

Haataja won the 200 yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke.

Leo Wheeler took first in the 100 yard freestyle and 50 yard freestyle for the Gremlins.

Houghton has another meet today on the road against Sault Ste. Marie.
