WESTWOOD — A late rally could not overcome a poor shooting night as Calumet dropped a 38-30 nonconference game to the Westwood Patriots Thursday in Westwood.

“Real physical game,” Calumet coach Mike Ojala said. “They forced us into too many 3s and we never got hot.

“I expected low scoring, but we are capable of shooting better than that.”

Calumet scored just nine points in the first half and trailed 32-14 entering the fourth quarter before outscoring the Patriots (8-7) 16-6.

Matt Ojala led Calumet (10-5) with 13 points and Cooper Twardzik added eight.

Next, Calumet hosts Chassell tonight.
