Lakes girls win, boys take third at Superior Dome meet Thursday

MARQUETTE — In an impressive performance Thursday, the Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes girls track team cruised to victory at the Dome Meet at the Superior Dome. The Lakes scored 117 points, 57 points higher than Stephenson. The Lakes boys team took third with 46 points, 13 points behind second place-North Central.

Chassell got the girls meet going with a win in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 10:59.35, which was over 17 seconds faster than Cedarville. Chassell also won the 3600 medley.

Ontonagon’s Nicole Lukkari won the 55-meter hurdles with a time 9.94, which edged out the Lakes’ Sienna Anderson (10.04), Abby Beaudoin (10.21) and MacKenzie LePage (10.39).

The Lakes’ Joslynn Perala took second in the 100-meter dash behind Amanda Starzynski of Stephenson.

Lake Linden got a win in the 400-meter dash as Mariah Willmer took first with a time of 1:05.68. Jamie Hendrickson took fourth with a time of 1:07.50.

Perala took second behind Starzynski in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.17.

LePage took the top spot in the pole vault with a vault of 8-feet. Megan Corrigan (7-feet-6.02) took second and Camaryn Crouch (7-feet-6.01) took third as the Lakes took the Top Three spots.

Hendrickson won the high jump at 4-feet-10. She was also second in the long jump (15-feet) behind Starzynski (16-feet-6). Willmer and LePage took third and fourth, respectively.

Lukkari was part of Ontonagon’s 800-meter relay team along with Jenny Labyak, Mackenzie Fredrickson and Fahren Kolpack. The team took second in the 800-meter relay.

In the 1600-meter relay, the team of Makenna Uotila, Lukkari, Holly Wardynski and Kolpack took top honors with a time of 4:45.51.

Chassell’s Lela Rautiola took third in the 1600-meter run with time of 5:53.87. Paige Sleeman later took second in the 800-meter run with time of 2:42.55, just over a second behind Mid Peninsula’s Daisy Englund.

On the boys’ side, the Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 3200-meter relay team of Johnny Norland, Davin Hill, Brendan LeClaire and Connor LeClaire took second with a time of 9:12.15. The team of Virgil Mongozid, Harrison Hrabinsky, Norland and Hill took second in the 3600-meter relay.

The Lakes’ Caleb Gregoire (9.25) took third in the 55-meter hurdles while his brother Cole took fourth (9.43). Caleb Klein took fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.03.

Caleb Gregoire took third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.98. He also took second in the long jump with a distance of 18-feet-9.

Ontonagon’s Noah Lukkari took second in the 800-meter run thanks to a time of 2:11.13.
