MARQUETTE — The Marquette boys and girls track and field teams definitely made use of their home track advantage Tuesday at the Marquette Invitational.

Both the Redmen and Redettes took first at the five-team meet and both finished with 124 points. Gladstone was just 12 points behind the Redmen in second place, while Houghton (94 points) and Negaunee (91.5) took second and third respectively on the girls side.

In the boys meet, Marquette won three of the four relays (4×800, 4X200, 4X400) with Iron Mountain taking the other one (4X100).

Raffy Millado and Mathurin Gagnon led the Redmen with both winning two events. Millado took first in the high jump and the long jump, while Gagnon won the 800 and 1,600 meter runs. Julien Malherbe (400 dash) and Hogan Nemetz (3,200 run) also won events for the Redmen.

Gladstone won four events, three of them coming from Calvin Thibault (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, 200 dash) and the other from Blake Servant (discus).

Negaunee earned three victories with two of them being in the field events with Michael Dellangelo (shot put) and Tanner Cain (pole vault) coming on top and Drew DuShane won the 100 dash.

In the girls meet, the Redettes swept all four relays and both Delaney Sall and Spenser Waite won two events. Sall finished first in the 400 dash and the 800 run, while Waite earned wins in the 100 and 200 dashes.

The Miners had a big day individually with Chloe Norman shining both on the track and the field. Norman won the 100 and 300 hurdles as well as the high jump and long jump. Other Negaunee champions included Emily Paupore (3,200 run), Abbie Tollefson (discus) and Leah McCracken (shot put).

Houghton won two individual events as Anabel Needham took first in the 1,600 run and Lilly Baker won the pole vault.
