HANCOCK — Sadie Biekkola struck out 15 opposing hitters to help McDonald’s defeat UP Audiology 7-2 in the Portage Lake Little League major softball championship game at the Hancock Driving Park Wednesday.

McDonald’s scored two runs in the bottom of the first on a single by Naomi Frahm. The top-seeded team added four more runs in the fourth inning on another Frahm hit and an Emilie Pierner triple to grab a 6-0 advantage.

UPA got on the board in the fifth inning after Emi Fay singled and later scored. The home team answered the run in the bottom of the frame as Mia Nordstrom walked and eventually scored to make the score 7-1.

Lexi Burns led off the sixth with a hit and made it around the bases to account for the game’s final run, but Biekkola struck out the side to finish off the championship.

Stella Soumis struckout 10 batters pitching for UPA, which closed the year with an 8-3 record. McDonald’s (9-2) finished the season with a nine-game winning streak to win the title.
