SOUTH RANGE — In Portage Lake Little League Majors action Tuesday, a back-and-forth affair eventually saw Superior Service find the extra gear needed to win, 11-8, over J. Peltier Construction.

The battle was tight, with scores of 2-2 after one inning, 6-6 after two, and 7-7 after three.

Jude Smith tripled to get things going for Superior Service, and Troy Coffey’s inside-the-park homer in the third inning tied the game for the home team.

In the fourth, Superior Service broke the game open. Hits by Jadon Packard, who went 4-for-4, Cameron Anderson, who had three hits and five RBIs, and Wells Huotari helped their team go up 11-8.

Starting pitchers Isaac Hiner and Huotari made way for Caleb Isaacson in the third inning. Isaacson closed out the game, striking out seven and giving up only two runs on two hits with two walks.

Todd Kilpela led the way for J. Peltier with two hits and scoring three times.
