Girls Basketball: Jeffers girls spill LL-H, 46-23

LAKE LINDEN — Despite some tough defensive play early on againt the Jeffers Jets, the Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes were not able to maintain it as the game progressed.

The Jets took advantage of turnovers and sunk the Lakes 46-23 on Monday.

“We struggled to capitalize on some scoring opportunities and began to dig ourselves into a hole,” said Lakes head coach Jack Johnson. “Turnovers and poor shooting continue to plague us at times and it was evident tonight.

Johnson credited his team for the effort it gave.

“The effort was there but the offense was not,” he said. “I have to give credit to Jeffers defensively for a lot of that.”

Baraga 66, Dollar Bay 21

DOLLAR BAY — The Baraga Vikings wasted no time in putting points on the board as they defeated the Dollar Bay Blue Bolts 66-21 on Monday.

The dominance of Rylie Koskinen and Reide Osterman proved to make the difference for Baraga as they both had 14 points each.

“We struggled communicating defensively at times tonight. Dollar bay did a good job taking advantage. We turned up the pressure and it helped open up the offense,” said Baraga’s head coach Tom Goodreau. “We were able to get some younger players court time.  I was pleased with what I saw.”
