Calumet’s Djerf commits to U.S. Coast Guard Academy

CALUMET — Calumet High School senior Nick Djerf accepted a congressional appointment to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy this fall.

Djerf, a three-sport Copper Kings athlete earning nine letters, will play football, club hockey and run track at the academy.

Djerf had a 3.96 grade-point average at CHS. He was a three-time all-state selection in hockey in 2018-20. He was an All-UP football return specialist and West PAC Special Teams Player of the Year in 2018. He was an All-Conference First Team running back and defensive back in 2019, as well as an All-U.P. defensive back and return specialist. He was also a U.P. All-Star game selection for this summer.

In track and field, Djerf was an All-State performer in the 400-meter relay, discus, long jump and pole vault.
