Lahti wins Portage Lake Golf Club women’s title

HOUGHTON — Jennifer Lahti of Twin Lakes shot an 80 to win the Portage Lake Golf Course women’s championship.

Lahti carded a 42 on the front nine and 38 on the back nine to hold off Janine Ward for a one-stroke victory. The pair were tied after the front nine before Lahti birdied No. 13, parred No. 15 for a two-stroke lead. Ward narrowed the margin with a par on 18 while Lahti bogeyed.

Melissa Stein won the Women’s President’s Cup with a score of 70. Ward took second and Lahti was third.

Robert Witting won the Men’s President’s Cup with 5-under 67. Rick Heinonen was second with a 72.

Barb Rossi, the 2019 women’s champion, took third place with an 83.

Carley Siko won the first flight with a 94. Marcia Butvilas was second with a 95. Julie Melchiori was third with a 95.

Sarah Baratono won the second flight with a 104.

Shelby Hamar, Carly Siko, Holly Rintala, Ward and Baratono won skins.

Ward won the long drive contest. Rossi and Karin Cooper won closest to the pins. Sheryl Sorby won longest putt.
