Hockey: Huskies, Mavericks series moved to Sunday, Monday

The Michigan Tech hockey series against No. 6 Minnesota State was moved to Sunday and Monday.

Michigan Tech (0-1-1) said in a press release fans will not be allowed because of a Michigan Department of Health and Human Services order.

The series was originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday. The Huskies and Mavericks play at 6:07 p.m. Sunday and 5:07 p.m. Monday at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena. It’ll be Tech’s first games since tying and losing the opening weekend at Lake Superior State on Nov. 21 and Nov. 22.

Minnesota State (1-0) last played Nov. 22 in a 5-0 win against Bemidji State. The Nov. 23 game was postponed and the Mavericks canceled last weekend’s series after “positive COVID-19 test results.” The university did not specify the number of positive tests.

Sunday’s game will be the Huskies’ first home game since a 3-2 loss against Northern Michigan on Feb. 29.
