Tech’s Pietila named WCHA Goalie of the Week
HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech sophomore goaltender Blake Pietila was named the WCHA Goaltender of the Week.
The league office announced the news Wednesday afternoon. Pietila anchored Tech’s defensive efforts in a series split against No. 6 Minnesota State on Sunday and Monday. He made a combined 78 saves on 81 shots.
Pietila has a career 2.57 goals-against average and .917 save percentage in eight appearances for Tech. He has started four games.
Tech (1-2-1) won 3-1 on Sunday and lost 2-0 on Monday. The Huskies visit Bemidji State for a non-conference series.
