Dorothy A. Judnich

HURONTOWN — Dorothy A. Judnich, 78, a former resident of Hurontown, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, where she resided for the past year.

She was born on September 19, 1939, in Obenhoff, a daughter of the late John and Mamie (Hill) Rajala.

Dorothy was raised in Obenhoff, attended the Redridge School and was a graduate of the Houghton High School with the Class of 1957.

On June 21, 1958, she was united in marriage to William Clarence Judnich. The couple resided in Allen Park and Walled Lake before moving to Hurontown in retirement in 1983.

Mrs. Judnich was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton.

Preceding her in death were her husband; her parents; her brothers, Robert, Reuben, Roy, Hubert and Ronald; her sister, Shirley Rimpela; and her paternal parents, Joseph and Mary Judnich.

Surviving are her children, Peggy (Robert) Devore of Riverview, Florida, Judith (Richard) Heinonen of Hancock, Curtis (Dennell Lukkari) Judnich of West Bloomfield, John Judnich of Las Vegas, Nevada, Michelle (Patrick) Beeman of Coldwater, Sandra (Dale) Slade of Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Jill (Mark) Passanisi of Houghton, Tony (Jeannie) Judnich of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, and Jennifer Stanaway of Marquette; 15 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; her sister, Bertha Duva of Clarkston; her brothers, Wilbert (Lucille) Rajala of Houghton, and Cliff Rajala of Houghton; her brother-in-law, Paul Rimpela of Hancock; her sisters-in-law, Gloria Judnich of Lake Linden, and Nancy Rajala of Anderson, South Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton with Pastor David Taivalkoski to officiate.

Burial will be in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery.

Friends may call on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests that memorials be given to the Houghton County Medical Care Facility Care of the Dorothy A. Judnich fund.
