Releasing some steam

To the editor:

I was disappointed seeing some of our citizens during their “protest march” buy into the “National Idiocy”: the liberal “Destory Everything” mentality. Many didn’t even know what they were protesting for. Defund the police? Garbage. Better to defend the police. I want to raise my taxes: provide our police with additional manpower, training and equipment they need to continue the excellent job they do.

While naive marchers “expressed themselves” insulting everything from our police to way of life, where was “socially-conscious” me? I was prepared to lock, load, and defend our families/businesses/community from rioters by force of arms, meet them at the city limits, stop them cold. Did I expect rioters as in some cities? Frankly, no, but the leftist march for the sake of… “something” was the perfect red flag to attract the raging bull of wilding and thuggery. Think, people. Is this what a segment of our own Copper Country wants to support here–bringing lawlessness? Do we really have to fight each other in the streets? Mr. Floyd, while wrongfully killed, was a criminal; doesn’t this matter?

I’m a gun owner, strong 2A supporter, but arrogant “militia,” more like malicious, members are appearing armed at the state capitol for a “dialogue” belong jailed.

Tourists enjoy seeing local criminals in publicly-displayed stocks as they roll into town. And how wonderful our locals volunteered to billet incarcerated lawbreakers in their basements. Wait–not happening? Then we need to do our civic duty supporting a new jail/courthouse. Some things in a community you just do. Too expensive? Well, let’s shut down alcohol and marijuana sales, tattoo parlors, cell-phones, big trucks, other non-essentials, take care of priorities. Meantime, raise my taxes here, also.

Finally, let’s call on Hancock, Houghton, Calumet, other village council members who voted in favor of marijuana businesses (medical/recreational) to step down. Otherwise possibly dedicated in their jobs, they don’t serve their communities or responsibilities well supporting such businesses, which harm communities with this lifestyle; dopers: shutter your businesses, get legitimate jobs, also.

Just because it’s “legal” doesn’t make it right.
