George Edward Sloan (Ed), 89, of Beltsville, MD, passed away May 31, 2025 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. A graveside service will take place at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton on July 24, 2025 at 11:00 am. Ed was born to Alta LaVerne (Zimmerman) and Paul Stuart Sloan on March 16, 1936 in Detroit, MI, where they lived while his father finished up medical school. Bette Marie Rucker, of Howell, Michigan, 85, passed away July 3, 2025 following a long illness. Born February 1, 1940, in Houghton, Michigan, Bette was the daughter of Sylvia & Francis “Rosie” Richard. She was a 1958 graduate of Houghton High School. Bette, and her 4 daughters, were former long-time residents on Baraga Street, and she worked at the Ambassador before moving to Texas in 1983. William Trudgeon

William T. “Bill” Trudgeon, Jr, 88, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, died March 26, 2025, after a lengthy illness. Bill was the son of William and Lillian [Palmer] Trudgeon of South Range Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Richard Trudgeon; and his grandson, Joseph Pizzi. Bill is survived by his sisters, Lillian Coponen and Nancy Koskela; daughters, Sandy Trudgeon and Kathy [Delano] Kahlstorf; and grandchildren, Adalia Trudgeon, and Stefan, Aidan [Katie], and Brendan Kahlstorf.  A private memorial service was held.
