Mari Jukkala

TRIMOUNTAIN — Mari E. Jukkala, 42, a resident of Trimountain, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at UP Health System–Portage. A funeral service for Mari will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Hancock. Burial will take place in the Oskar Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Hancock and again on Tuesday, June 23, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Violet Sibrt

Violet Sibrt (Laverdiere) of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away on March 27, 2026. She was born Aug. 10, 1935, in Lake Linden.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in the basement of St. Joseph Church in Lake Linden, followed by funeral mass at 11 a.m.

Mary Johnson

Mary Catherine Johnson (formerly Schmitz), who was a long time resident of Copper Harbor, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 12, 2026, while under the care of Canal View in Hancock. A memorial service will be held for Mary at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet Friday ,June 26, 2026 at 12 p.m. There will be a one hour visitation prior to the service from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. There will be a private burial in Lake View Cemetery in Calumet following the service. The Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home is assisting the family.

William Kilponen, born in Hancock, March 24, 1934, passed away, Feb. 1, 2026. Please join us for a Memorial Service on June 20, 2026. We will gather at Zion Lutheran Church, 400 Ingot Street, Hancock, at 3 p.m. Coffee, Nisu and conversation will follow in the social hall of Zion.

HANCOCK — Janet E. Shuford, 87, a resident of Hancock, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Aspirus Keweenaw in Laurium following a lengthy illness.
