U.S. star Christian Pulisic fractured his right leg during the Americans' World Cup loss to Belgium and will be sidelined for several weeks, a person familiar with the injury said Thursday. FAYETTEVILLE, Ga (AP) — Former American defender and Los Angeles FC coach Steve Cherundolo was hired Thursday by the U.S. Soccer Federation to lead the American men's under-23 team through the 2028 Olympics. It was not clear whether the 47-year-old from San Diego would become a candidate to become the national team interim coach if a new deal isn't worked out between the USSF and Mauricio Pochettino, whose contract expires this summer. Blackhawks star Connor Bedard to miss start of the season after shoulder surgery

CHICAGO — Chicago Blackhawks center Connor Bedard will miss the start of the season after he had surgery on his left shoulder on Wednesday. Team physician Michael Terry said Bedard is expected "to make a full recovery in an approximate timeline of four months." The NHL hasn't announced its regular-season schedule, but the Blackhawks played their first game last season on Oct. 7.
