HANCOCK — The Alfred Erickson American Legion Post 186 will host a Veterans Health Fair from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the post, 1308 Quincy St. in Hancock.

The event is free to all veterans. No appointment, DD-214 or military ID will be necessary.

Tests available include blood pressure, vital signs, oxygen saturation, blood sugar and weight and body mass index. Other services offered are a MedMinder set-up with current medication list, primary care recommendations, nursing education and assistance with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs paperwork.

The Houghton County veterans service officer and a social worker from UP Health System Home Care and Hospice Portage will be on site as well.

The event is in honor and appreciation of the late Master Gunnery Sgt. Gerald “Jerry” Friisvall, retired U.S. Marine Corp and former Baraga County veterans service officer who died Feb. 4 at age 62.
