Sheriff’s Office warns of counterfeit bills
According to the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office, a large number of counterfeit bills were discovered on Dec. 21. The bills, which otherwise resemble legitimate currency, have Asian characters printed on them. The sheriff’s office is collaborating with Houghton City Police, Michigan State Police, and the Baraga County Sheriff’s office in the on-going investigation. They urge businesses and individuals to be mindful of their currency, because counterfeit bills could still be in circulation.
The detective on the case was not available for interview.
