EAGLE RIVER — The Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what is being considered a hit-and-run, road rage crash that occurred over the weekend in the parking lot of the BP gas station in Allouez.

The Sheriff’s Office initially posted the incident on its Facebook page, in which the suspect was described as a female driver, approximately 60 years old, and driving a newer model, dark-colored SUV, which was later identified by respondents of the post as a 2010-12 Chevrolet Equinox.

In a telephone interview Monday morning, Sheriff Bill Luokkanen said the suspect has been identified and located, but could offer no further information, because the incident is still being investigated, and there may be extenuating circumstances in the crash.

Because the incident remains under investigation, no names or other information are being released at this time.
