One injured in L’Anse car crash

L’ANSE — One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash in L’Anse Thursday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 1:45 p.m., when a 2000 Ford Focus pulled out on Menge Creek Road, failing to yield to a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado headed west on U.S. 41, said Baraga County Undersheriff Jim Gabe.

The driver of the Ford Focus, a 49-year-old woman from Houghton, was taken to Baraga Area Memorial Hospital for non life-threatening injuries. The Silverado driver, a 50-year-old Green Bay man, did not need to be taken to the hospital, Gabe said.

Neither vehicle was operable after the crash.

The Houghton woman was cited for failure to yield.

The Baraga County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Baraga Village Police, Bay Ambulance, L’Anse Fire Department and Dynamite Towing.
