A woman driving a Jeep veered off of M-26 Thursday afternoon. According to responders on the scene, the vehicle briefly caught fire before the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

ADAMS TOWNSHIP -- The Michigan State Police Calumet Post was dispatched to a single-vehicle personal injury crash at 3:40 p.m. Thursday, which resulted in a vehicle fire and an arrest for driving while intoxicated.
Troopers said that a 42-year-old South Range woman was traveling on M-26 between Atlantic Mine and South Range when she lost control of her vehicle in the vicinity of U-Haul Moving and Storage, and crashed her vehicle, a late-model Jeep.
Emergency response personnel quickly determined that the driver was intoxicated, but no injured, and she was arrested and lodged in the Houghton County Jail. Her name was not released pending arraignment.
