MTU tightens COVID-19 restrictions

HOUGHTON — A day after announcing a temporary move to online-only classes, Michigan Technological University announced further restrictions on coming to campus.

Effective immediately, any student or employee who has completed international travel or believes they may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus cannot return to campus for 14 days. The two-week period starts from the day they return or the potential date of exposure.

Employees and students who fit those standards should immediately email the university at covid-19@mtu.edu. The restrictions will help prevent the spread of the virus and protect the health of the university community, Tech said.

Any university-sponsored international travel until April 17 is effectively canceled.
