American Legion Post to host spaghetti dinner fundraiser

HANCOCK — American Legion Post 186, located on West Quincy Street, will conduct its semi-annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser from 12-4 p.m. on Sunday, September 27.

The primary funding for the post comes from membership dues and the spaghetti dinners, said post member Dan Manninen.

“We have two a year that we do,” he said. “One in the spring, and then one again in the fall.”

The spring dinner was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, said Manninen, and although the fall dinner is scheduled, dinner will be curbside, to protect the public and post members from any threat of the virus.

“We’re going to take the precautionary steps of holding the dinner,” he said, “but curbside pickup only.”

The fall dinner fundraiser is usually the most attended and lucrative for the post, he said, so the upcoming dinner will be the most important, particularly since the spring dinner needed to be canceled.

Tickets are $9 for adults, $4 for children, and can be purchased through Peterson Chiropractic, on Quincy Street in Hancock, or people who know a member of the American Legion Post 186, they can get tickets from that member, as well. They can also be purchased in the pick-up line the day of the dinner. Tickets can also be purchased through the author of this article, if they are needed. Call 906-483-2202. For pickup, enter on Birch Street and exit onto Quincy Street.
