HANCOCK — The Houghton County Fair Livestock Exhibitors are already planning for the 2021 Houghton County Fair.

The market beef steers were registered by Feb. 15 and eight youth from Houghton County plan to participate.

At this time of the year, the exhibitors are training their animals to lead and are grooming and feeding them specific rations to get the proper rate of gain. The next deadline is for market hogs, which is on May 15, and then market lambs on June 1.

The Junior Market Livestock Program (for swine and lambs) is open to Houghton or Keweenaw County youth aged 7 to 19 on Dec. 31 of the current year.

Pre-registration forms can be found on the website, houghtoncountyfair.com, or can be obtained by emailing houghtoncountyfair@hotmail.com, or calling the fair office at 482-6200. Forms must be turned in to the appropriate superintendent or mailed to or dropped off at the fair office by the date listed.
