HANCOCK — The School Board at its regular June meeting approved the schedule for the 2121-2022 school year, said Superintendent Steve Patchin in an email on Tuesday.
The first day of school will be Tues. Sept. 27, the day after the Memorial Day holiday, Patchin said.
– Thanksgiving Holiday break is scheduled to begin on Wed. Nov. 24 and students will return on Monday, Nov. 29.
– Christmas Break is two weeks long again this year. The last day of school will be Friday December 17, 2021 and the first day back to school will be Monday, January 3, 2022.
– Spring Break will be from March 28, 2022 to April 1, 2022.
– The last day of school will be Friday, June 10, 2022.
Patchin also stated that the School Board approved the awarding of the construction contract to remodel the entrance to the middle and high school to MJO Construction
“This is a sinking fund project to fix the many uneven pavers on the sidewalk which have become a tripping hazard,” said Patchin. “The project will be completed in late August.”
Patchin said the public will also have an opportunity to purchase a paver they can have their names, or the names of their families engraved on and placed near the bulldog statue for $200. All proceeds will be used to purchase new furniture for the school’s commons area that will allow students to better use the area as a group meeting workspace. More information to be released soon on how to purchase these custom engraved pavers.
“Our Library will remain open during the construction, and our Northern Lights Summer Programs and sports camps will also continue operating,” said Patchin. “See signage of where the entrances will transition to temporarily.”
