ONTONAGON COUNTY — One driver in a Saturday two-vehicle crash in Ontonagon County later died from his injuries, while another is now being jailed on an unrelated charge, the Michigan State Police said in a release.

The crash occurred on U.S. 45 near Military Hill about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The injured driver, a 20-year-old Ontonagon County Man, was transported to UP Health System — Marquette, where he was pronounced dead Sunday.

The other driver, a 21-year-old Ontonagon County man, ran into the woods after the crash, the MSP said. He later turned himself in and was interviewed by police. He is being held in the Ontonagon County Jail on unrelated charges. Troopers are completing the investigation, which will be sent to the Ontonagon County prosecutor for review.

The MSP did not release names, citing the ongoing investigation.
