HOUGHTON -- Crews continued to repair power outages Thursday after Wednesday's ice storm resulted in downed trees and power lines across the Copper Country.

Warmer temperatures Thursday is causing ice shedding, resulting in additional damage, said Upper Peninsula Power Co. spokesman Brett French.

"We're hoping to have everyone on later today, but that's depending on how the weather plays out this afternoon," he said.

Outages in the Copper Country as of 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon included 2,750 customers in Houghton County along with 164 in Baraga County and one in Ontonagon County. By the same time Thursday, that had dropped to 77 in Houghton County and one in Keweenaw County.
