Rare snow/fog mix in Copper Country

Garrett Neese/Daily Mining Gazette

Fog hangs over the Quincy Smelting Works site in Ripley Wednesday afternoon. The Keweenaw was hit with more late-season snow Wednesday. A winter storm that had been forecast to sweep through much of the Copper Country Wednesday night is instead mostly projected to hit further east. The exception is Baraga County, where advisories Wednesday afternoon predicted 1 to 7 inches of snow and ice accumulations of a light glaze overnight.

Scattered snow showers and freezing rain are still expected overnight in the Houghton/Hancock area, with new snow accumulation of about half an inch. Gusts of up to 35 mph are also forecast Thursday.

Starting at $3.50/week.
