Police release information on Houghton crash
HOUGHTON — Police released additional details after a single-vehicle accident in Houghton Monday.
About 3 p.m. Monday, a Kirkish Furniture delivery truck driven by a 55-year-old Laurium man was traveling north on Bridge Street when the vehicle’s brakes failed, the driver told police. The vehicle crossed U.S. 41 and collided with a protective retaining wall.
Mercy EMS transported the passenger, a 45-year-old Chassell man, for treatment of injuries. The driver sought his own treatment.
The Houghton Police Department continues to investigate the crash. The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan Tech Public Safety and Police Services assisted on scene.
