LAKE LINDEN — The Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools Board approved its general fund budget for 2022-23 which will have revenues of $4,668,598 and appropriations of $4,710,610. The expected fund balance at the end of the upcoming fiscal year is $391,713.

The district’s millage rate is 16.5768 mills on non-homestead and non-qualified agricultural property for the 2022-23 school year.

That rate, reduced through Headlee rollbacks because of rising property values, is leading to the district getting about $100,000 less per year than if it levied the 18 mills approved by voters, said Business Manager Jeff Klein.

The district is expecting 375 students for the coming year, said Superintendent Brad Codere.

Expenditures were higher than normal due to some one-time purchases such as $120,000 for playground equipment, Codere said.

The board also approved revisions to the 2021-22 budgets. Revenue increases included funding from Dollar Bay for a Spanish teacher position shared between the two districts. Spending on student transportation was higher than expected, driven partially by increases in the price of gas.
