Karen Kafantaris, Associate State Director, AARP Michigan, will present a HomeFit Workshop via Zoom at the Portage Lake District Library on Tuesday, September 13 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.  The Zoom link will be posted on the library’s calendar: https://pldl.org/calendar-of-events/  

A recent AARP survey found that 77% of older Americans want to age in place–to live in their own home safely, independently and comfortably. 

Although almost 20 percent of Americans are age 65 or older, most houses and apartments are designed for young, able-bodied adults and don’t meet the needs of older residents.   

Hence, the AARP’s HomeFit program is designed to help people live safely and comfortably by taking a room-by-room approach to age-friendly home modifications. 

In conjunction with Karen’s presentation, PLDL Board of Trustees Vice President Jenn Donovan is organizing an aging-in-place display at the library for September, which is Healthy Aging Month.
